Examination Ordering and Test Administration Processes & Support

ORDERING PROCESS

1. Order

U.S. Entrepreneurship Certification Examination:

2. Complete the online checkout process

You must complete this purchasing process to generate an order number whether you are paying by credit card or check:

  • On the product order page, select the number of exams (i.e., test tickets) you want to purchase.
  • Click the “Add to cart” button.
  • Check the order for accuracy then click “Proceed to checkout.”
  • Enter the billing details and complete the “Additional information” and “Order will be administered by” section; provide the test administrator’s first and last name and email address. (This should be the person administering the test, usually the teacher. It is NOT typically the purchaser, though it could be, in which case, simply write “Same.”)
  • Enter either a credit card number OR select the purchase order (P.O.) option (see P.O. note below).
  • Submit the form by clicking “Place order.” You will be provided with an order number and invoice/receipt via email.
Purchase Orders (PO)

If you selected a PO for payment, provide the purchase order number at checkout, then email a copy of the PO to [email protected]. Upon ordering, CTECS will invoice you but will not process your test tickets until funds are encumbered. 3. Test administrator account

Soon after exams are ordered, the test administrator account will be added to E-SESS (the online testing system) by CTECS and linked to your order number. Once you are added, the test administrator will receive an email from Pitsco.com with E-SESS login instructions (Pitsco operates E-SESS). Make sure to check your spam folder for this important email. The test tickets you purchased will be placed in your account by CTECS. 

TESTING PROCESS

Test tickets

Well ahead of testing day, log into E-SESS to get the test tickets. You will see the Exam Resources Package on the main screen and in the left column, you will see menu options/administrator functions. From the left menu, open “Participants” and select “Test Tickets.” Print the tickets or save them to a file. Everything a student needs to log into the exam is on the ticket. They contain a link to the testing system, and unique user IDs plus passwords.

Prior to test day

Print the test tickets for distribution to students, one for each person who will be taking the test. Make sure the IT requirements have been met ahead of testing. CTECS posts general IT requirements for our tests. 

Students: Log into the test

Students will go to the website listed on their test tickets. They must enter personal information (demographics) to begin the test. Administrators may want to inform students prior to testing that they must enter information into these fields when they log into the test:

  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • School/Organization
  • Educational Setting (e.g., high school)
  • City
  • Teacher name
  • State
  • E-mail

Important: Test administrators may edit demographics to add accommodations.

Prior to testing, if administrators want to add accommodations for students (e.g., audio and/or extra time) follow these steps:

1. Log into E-SESS.
2. Select “Participants”
3. Select “Edit Existing”
4. Click the “Show Participant Edit” button
5. Select a ticket to edit by clicking the “Edit” button
6. Add accommodations by using the drop-down menu(s).
7. Click the “Submit” button at the bottom of the screen to save the changes to the ticket.

Be sure to keep track of the tickets that were changed so the correct test taker will use the ticket for which changes were made. This is very important when adding accommodations.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Limitations for purchased test tickets

There are NO refunds on purchased tickets. However, unused tickets do not expire and can be carried over into subsequent years. Once a test ticket has been used, it cannot be reused.

Retake examinations 

Individuals who do not pass the exam on their first attempt may take up to two retakes; a total of three attempts per semester.
